Car transport vehicles refer to vehicles that are specially used to transport cars, commercial vehicles, touring vehicles and experimental vehicles. Whether they are purchased in different places, vehicles in different places or passenger vehicles in travel, "package and send" can be realized by car transport vehicles.

The development of car logistics is closely related to the development of the automobile industry. The production and sales of cars directly affect the market demand of car logistics. Common classification of semi-trailer car:

1. Single axle twin

This type of vehicle is designed with one axle, which can hold four tires. It has low cost, moderate bearing capacity and large space in the middle of the lower layer. It is especially suitable for hybrid cars and SUVs.

The disadvantage is that the height of the bearing surface at the tire is slightly higher.

2. Double axle single tire

Two axles are designed, which can be fitted with four tires. One axle is fitted with only one tire on each side. The chassis is relatively low, and the middle space of the whole lower layer from the rear of the gooseneck is large. It is suitable for loading minivans and SUVs and other vehicles.

However, due to the influence of vehicle width and tire width, the inner width of the body at the tire is small, and it is relatively difficult to pass when loading a wide-body van and SUV.

3. Twin axle

This is a type of vehicle that is widely used in vehicle transportation semi-trailer at present. It is designed with 2 axles, and can be installed with 8 tires in total. The chassis is low. The middle space from the rear of the gooseneck to the lower layer is large, and the bearing capacity is strong. It is suitable for minivans, SUVs and other vehicles.


From the perspective of structure, there are two forms of two-axle and two-tire transport semi-trailer:

The upper and lower layers are flat-mounted and can carry 6 commercial vehicles;

The lower layer adopts one or two aircraft gangways, which can load seven vehicles.

4. Long-head tractor+semi-trailer

The total length of long-head tractor+semi-trailer is 1m longer than that of flat-head tractor+semi-trailer, with the maximum length of 18.1m. A vehicle platform can be installed on the upper part of the long-head tractor, and one more vehicle can be installed. The total number of vehicles can reach 8, and the loading performance is significantly improved.

It is worth noting that although one more vehicle can be loaded, its actual length is only extended by 1m, so the semi-trailer used with the long-head tractor must be specially designed. The front column needs to be lowered or moved back, and the upper layer needs to be overlapped, otherwise it cannot meet the requirements of loading four vehicles on the upper layer.

In addition to the semi-trailer type, GB1589 has added the mid-axle car train, which can reach a maximum length of 22m according to the announcement period, which is nearly 5m longer than the total length of the semi-trailer train and nearly 4m longer than the long-head semi-trailer train. The length advantage is very obvious.

At present, the structures of the mid-axle car carriers developed by various manufacturers are not the same, and are generally divided into the following categories:

1. Column bearing type:

The front car and trailer are each equipped with four columns to carry the load, and there is no top longitudinal beam at the side of the body, which is convenient for loading.

2. Body side frame load bearing type:

The column, top longitudinal beam and side beam form an integral bearing, the body is stable, the front and rear forces of the column are scattered, and the structural strength is good.

3. Rear column oil cylinder+movable swing rod type:

The body structure is simpler and the loading is more convenient, but the rear end of the upper platform shakes more left and right. In order to improve stability, the root of the movable swing bar needs to be strengthened.

Advantages of central axle car:

1. Economic benefits. The ordinary standard semi-trailer car can transport 6 vehicles, the long-head tractor can transport 7 vehicles, and the mid-axle car can transport 8-10 vehicles, with obvious economic benefits;

2. Functional advantages. The central axle car can be used as a train, or the trailer can be removed as a single vehicle, which is more convenient when there are fewer vehicles in the urban area or in the short distance;

3. Flexibility advantage. The chassis and center of gravity of the mid-axle car carrier are lower, and the turning radius is smaller under the same vehicle length.

Disadvantages of central axle car:

1. The purchase cost is higher. Compared with ordinary trucks or semi-trailers, the purchase cost and maintenance cost of centre-axle trailers are higher.

2. Poor driving stability. The middle axle wheel is in the middle of the car, and the car body is easy to swing up and down or left and right when running. In addition, its connection point with the main car is under the frame. When the speed is too fast or the road is slippery in rainy days, it is easy to shake the tail, lose control and roll.

3. High requirements for road conditions. Although the low chassis provides better trafficability and stability, its adaptability to poor road conditions has become worse.

4. It is difficult to drive. In practical applications, many car owners have reported that the centre-axle trailer is "difficult to turn", "keeps shaking when driving", and "needs some technology to drive".

Although there are problems, from the current general trend of the domestic transportation industry, modularization and standardization are the main trend. With the progress of technology and the continuous improvement of relevant supporting facilities, the shortcomings of the mid-axle trailer may be gradually overcome.
