In China's transportation industry, semi-trailer is a widely used model, which plays a great role in cargo transportation. According to the different types of goods transported, the semi-trailer can be subdivided into fence type, warehouse grid type, low flat plate type, van type, tank type, container type, skeleton type, etc.

In general, the semi-trailer itself does not have the driving force, so it often needs the power of the tractor to drive, that is, the tractor needs to drag the semi-trailer forward. Therefore, many car owners are also used to calling semi trailers trailers or trailers.

Are semi trailers and trailers the same type?

Not exactly the same model. Although both semi-trailer and trailer refer to vehicles that have no power and need to be powered by the tractor, the difference between them is obvious. This difference is mainly in the connection mode with the tractor.

Difference between semi-trailer and Trailer:

1. The connection between the semi-trailer and the tractor mainly depends on the saddle and the traction pin. These two components are the key components of the semi-trailer connection. They are connected through the locking mechanism and are subject to multi-dimensional spatial torque, alternating load, dynamic impact force, etc. during the vehicle operation.

From the appearance, after the semi-trailer is connected with the tractor, the front end of the semi-trailer is on the rear end of the tractor, and the steering function is realized through the saddle, as shown in the following figure:

2. The connection between the trailer and the tractor mainly depends on the drawbar. The drawbar of the trailer is hung on the drawbar of the tractor, as shown in the following figure:

Such a connection mode can make the trailer maintain a certain ability to swing left and right or up and down during driving, and can improve the flexibility of the trailer, which is more suitable for use under complex road conditions; At the same time, the driving difficulty has also increased a lot, especially when reversing and driving, the stability will be affected to a certain extent.

It is also for this reason that trailers are generally used more in fields, airports, stations and logistics parks, and less in special freight scenarios.

Whether it is a semi-trailer or a trailer, the axle used is generally a typical support axle, which does not have the function of driving or steering.

The tonnage of semi-trailer bridge is generally between 13t-25t, the main light-weight semi-trailer bridge is about 10t, and the tonnage of heavy-duty semi-trailer special bridge, such as three line six axle axle axle, can reach 80t or even hundreds of tons.

In contrast, the tonnage of trailers is relatively small, generally concentrated in 3t-10t, of which 5T and 8t are the most common. Compared with semi-trailer, the axle of trailer is more small, and the parameters are not uniform. Most of them need to be customized.
