Bearing is an important part of the trailer axle. As a high-precision, high-strength and high-speed part, it plays an important role in transmitting force, reducing pressure and buffering on the trailer chassis.

Specifically, there are three main functions of bearings:

1. Bearing weight provides accurate guidance for the steering of the hub. It should bear not only axial load, but also radial load.

2. Maintain the flexibility of vehicle steering, so that the shock absorber can rotate with the wheels when the vehicle turns;

3. The outer ring of the pressure bearing is made of rubber, which can maintain the soft connection between the vehicle body and the shock absorber and prevent the vibration from being transmitted to the vehicle body through the shock absorber due to the uneven road surface.

During the driving process of the trailer, due to road conditions, load and other reasons, the bearing is easy to be damaged, such as serious wheel shaking when the vehicle runs, aggravating the shaking of the whole vehicle, or abnormal noise of the bearing during driving. After the bearing is broken, it will affect the comfort, vehicle deviation and tire noise, and it will easily lead to accidents such as axle bending, wheel flying out, axle breaking or suspension damage, which will seriously affect the driving safety. Therefore, once the bearing is found damaged, it needs to be sent for repair and replacement immediately. Do not continue driving. The practice of "driving slowly even if the bearing is broken" mentioned by some car owners is not desirable.

In order to ensure driving safety to the greatest extent, the trailer bearing is recommended to be maintained every 2-3 months. Bearing maintenance mainly refers to adjusting clearance and adding grease. The maintenance steps are as follows:

1. Remove the shaft head trim cover and dust cover;

2. Remove the nut and tire, and be careful not to damage the thread of the tire bolt. If it is a disc brake, remove the brake and remove the lock ring or lock pin with pliers;

3. Remove the hub with a special tool;

4. Scrape off the old lubricating grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean the hub bearing and journal with cleaning agent and dry them, and finally wipe the hub cavity with cloth;

5. Check the hub bearing and bearing race. If cracks, fatigue peeling, loose bearing rollers, pitting and other phenomena are found, replace the bearing;

6. Check the bearing inner diameter and journal, and the fit clearance shall not be greater than 0.10mm. If the fit clearance exceeds the specified service limit, replace the bearing to restore the normal fit clearance;

7. After checking all parts, apply grease to the inner bearing and put it into the hub;

8. When applying grease to the bearing cavity, pay attention to squeeze the grease into the bearing until the grease emerges from the other side of the bearing. Then apply a thin layer of grease in the hub cavity and the shaft head cover, do not apply too much, otherwise it will affect heat dissipation and braking;

9. Install the hub and outer bearing back on the journal, screw the shaft head adjusting nut, and then tighten it with the shaft head wrench according to the specified torque. After tightening, rotate the hub left and right for several turns to observe the installation of the bearing. In addition, the bearing and race shall be properly matched by rotation, and the bearing tightness shall be appropriate.

10. Install the locking plate, fixing nut, tire, dust cover and decorative cover in turn.
