Vehicle annual inspection is a very important safety management measure, which is a comprehensive inspection of vehicles in terms of safety, environmental protection, quality, etc., to ensure the realization of traffic safety and environmental protection requirements.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport announced the newly revised "Technical Management Regulations for Road Transport Vehicles", which will come into effect on June 1, 2023.

Among them, it is stipulated that:

Article 20 Road transport operators shall regularly visit motor vehicle inspection and testing institutions that have obtained qualification certificates from market supervision and management departments and possess corresponding inspection and testing capabilities to conduct inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation of road transport vehicles.

Article 21 Road transport operators shall conduct inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation according to the following cycles and frequencies from the month when the road transport vehicle first obtains the road transport certificate:

（1） Passenger cars that have been registered by the national motor vehicle registration authority for the first time for less than 60 months shall undergo inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation every 12 months; For those exceeding 60 months, inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation shall be conducted every 6 months.

（2） Other road transport vehicles that have been registered by the national motor vehicle registration authority for less than 120 months shall undergo inspection, testing, and technical level assessment every 12 months; For those exceeding 120 months, inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation shall be conducted every 6 months.

Article 22: The inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation of passenger cars and dangerous goods vehicles shall be entrusted to the motor vehicle inspection and testing institution in the place where the vehicle is registered. The inspection, testing, and technical level evaluation of trucks can be independently selected by motor vehicle inspection and testing institutions nationwide.

That is to say, according to the reform requirements, the inspection and testing cycle and frequency of freight vehicles are unified as once a year within 10 years and once every six months after 10 years.
