How long does it take for truck tires to be replaced? How to periodically change tire position?

Tires are the only components that come into contact with the road surface during vehicle operation. They not only bear the weight of the vehicle body, but also cope with various road conditions such as rain, snow, sand and gravel, potholes, and bear various deformations, loads, forces, and high and low temperature pressures, which are closely related to driving safety.

Tires are a typical consumable item, and car owners need to conduct relevant inspections and maintenance, especially for freight vehicles, which have more complex operating conditions. To ensure driving safety, once problems with tires are found, they should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.

In general, the replacement cycle for truck tires is about 40000 to 60000 kilometers or 3-5 years. After this period, tires are prone to aging, cracking, and surface hardening. Of course, as a vehicle component that is prone to wear and tear, tire replacement cannot rely solely on simple data as support. After all, different usage conditions, driving conditions, tire brands, and quality can all affect the service life of tires. Car owners still need to decide whether to replace tires based on the actual situation.

Firstly, check if there are any cracks, bulges, missing rubber, or worn patterns on the surface of the tire. Especially bulges indicate that the metal coils inside the tire have deformed or broken. Continuing to drive can easily cause a tire blowout, which is very dangerous and must be replaced immediately. Secondly, when the surface pattern of the tire is severely worn, it is also necessary to change the tire in a timely manner, because such tires greatly reduce grip and can easily cause the vehicle to lose control when encountering wet and slippery roads.

In addition, car owners can also determine whether a tire replacement is necessary based on the wear marks on the tires. In general, a wear mark is set at the bottom of the tire tread groove, which is about 1.6 millimeters for passenger cars and 2.4 millimeters for trucks. If the tire pattern is flush with this mark, it indicates that the tire needs to be replaced.

When changing tires, the car should mainly choose newly produced tires as much as possible. If the inventory is too long, the elasticity of the tires will decrease. The production date of the tire can be determined by the number near the tire sidewall hub. Generally, the first two numbers represent the production cycle, and the last two numbers represent the production year. Car owners can choose based on this information.

In addition, it is also important to do regular tire rotation, with the principle of "changing the inner side to the outer side, changing the inner side to the outer side, crossing over, and moving all tires". This can make the wear and tear of each tire as consistent as possible and extend its service life. Below, Darong Axle will briefly introduce the tire replacement method based on several common freight vehicle models.

Notes:

1. If the size and pattern of the tires are not the same, the front and rear tires should not be rotated.

2. Tire replacement should be carried out in conjunction with regular maintenance cycles, and after selecting the method of replacement, it should not be changed arbitrarily.

3. For tires with directional patterns, their rotation direction cannot be changed after rotation.

4. After tire rotation, the tire pressure should be readjusted according to regulations.

5. If there is a significant difference in tire wear, the rotation frequency can be increased.
